Thread titles not changing colour when I've clicked on them...

I use IE9 and er, windows summat or other. Mumsnet classic of course.

Anyway, yes, they usually go a pretty purple colour and atm they aren't. It's not particularly distressing but it's rather irksome.

Hi ShowOfHands,

Have you recently deleted your internet browsing history/cleared your cache? This might be why previous threads you've clicked on are no longer purple. Do new threads you click on go purple?

In IE, go on Tools then Internet Options. At the bottom of the list under Appearance, click on colors. Uncheck "use windows colors" and make sure "visited" shows purple.

Let us know if it still doesn't work..

Wotcha. Still not working. To be clear, it's not a cleared cache/history thing ie it's not that previously clicked links have changed back, it's new threads I'm clicking on. I then click on active convos or the topic and the link's still unchanged. Not happening on other sites, google for example. Visited sites are definitely purple. Just not on MN.

It did work for a while the other day and now it's back to not working again. I've checked your suggestion and it's all set up as expected.

And it's just thread titles btw. I clicked on site stuff to find this thread and that's purple now. As is the topics link as I've used that recently. It seems to be just thread titles which aren't changing.

this is happening to me too, only noticed it today - topics change colour but not threads. Weird!

You're using Internet Explorer - that's your problem.

I'm using Safari and it's happening to me too.

The inconsiderate bastards.

I dunno. Threads these days. Why, I was in Lidl just the other day buying a tin of Kitty Chunks and this thuggish-looking thread ran its bloody trolley up the back of my ankle and tore my Elbeo support hose.

Angry

Hmm. It's working for me in Chrome . I'll see if Tech have any ideas.

This has been happening to me on and off for about a year. I used to be able to solve it by clearing browsing history/cache.

Tech told me this: 'Hi, this is normally a problem in your browser where it gets confused about what URLs you have and haven't read. If you delete your temporary internet files that normally fixes it. This Microsoft page tells you how to do that

support.microsoft.com/kb/260897'

Which didn't really help as I had already been deleting the temp internet files for about a year and that has now also stopped working.

Sorry that didn't really help, just adding that its an ongoing problem I think

That's interesting Squitch. It's just started happening again after a couple of weeks without problems. It's rather annoying.

Oh no. Sorry to hear that. We'll flag it to Tech (again) and see if he has any more suggestions.

Mine is the same. Threads that I clicked on yesterday have changed colour, but if I have clicked any new ones today they haven't.

Yes, it's happening to me too. It was fine early this morning, but I've been out all day and now I'm only getting any thread I've already looked at previously showing up blue, not purple.

Plus I'm now only seeing the first page of a Topic, with no Next Page option.

On a iMac PC using Firefox.

Uh oh. I've just noticed that the threads I looked at last night are back to being purple, but threads I looked at, say, a few days ago are still blue. Ah well, I guess I can live with that!

Zombie lost all her purple sometime this week. No big deal really - unanticipated side effect of some Tech tinkering no doubt.

But...

Now if she opens a thread through Active Convos the title turns purple within Active Convos but is still blue if she goes to the actual forum the thread is in. She's just double checked this with the "Is it too late to train for the marathon" thread in Chat. Opened via Active Convos, clicked on Active Convos and title was purple, then clicked on Chat and title is still blue in that thread list.

Hi, There was a typo in the links on the thread list page. This meant the link wasn't the exact same on the topic page as it was on active convos. So that makes your browser think you haven't visited it. I've just put up a fix, so things should be working correctly now. Sorry about that.
