I can't bear to see an unanswered thread. I asked MNHQ to move one.

Question: Do we need a separate SN Education section that hardly anyone ever looks at? Should we ask for it to be removed or possible have a sticky or something directing people to SN Children where all the baddies wonderful SN parents lurk?

I know what you mean Wet. I have asked a couple of OP to repost on here. It seems to me that the SN Education is a bit redundant. So I agree that maybe there should be a redirection notice.

I agree, i try to go over there and send people this way sometimes. I think it needs something doing with it because i feel sorry for the people who need support.

I think it has to be stickies. Isn't SEN unhidden? So people might there not know about here perhaps?

I go over and do a sweep sometimes but often it is days late.

Shall I be brave and contact MNHQ?

Maybe the thing to do would be to suggest that they close Education and rename this one SN Kids and Education board. What do you all think? If you agree then Wet be brave and suggest it! I wouldn't have a clue where to start contacting the "powers that be" !!Grin

Good idea, Sally. I nominate Wet, she's aggressive assertive enough for the job. Grin

MNHQ

We've noticed a lot of threads that appear on SN Education receive no replies, as the main focus for SN parents is this SN Children board.

Many of us periodically wander over to SN Education to explain that the OP's thread is unlikely to be seen in SN Education and to invite them over to SN Children, where there's more traffic. I've seen several threads started on SN Education that MNHQ has redirected to SN Children.

So I posed the question at the start of this thread and there appears to be agreement that it would be helpful to have a sticky on SN Education warning that the board doesn't get much traffic or, more radically, renaming the SN Children's board to include SN Education.

Can you please let us know what you think?

star, I think SEN isn't hidden but SN education is. Go for it wet, I've recommended people repost over here before now but not many do.

OK - have been very brave without the aid of Wine and reported my own thread to MNHQ.

Hopefully they'll post their response here.

Hi all,

Thanks for reporting this WetAugust and absolutely no Wine needed to report stuff to us - we don't bite Grin

We are going to move this thread to Site Stuff so that we can gauge a wider opinion about this.

Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

lol. I assume most people would post in sn, so new people will just og unanswered in an un used topic.

Yes it makes sense to move / combine it, the SN education board gets very little traffic and we all talk constantly about education of the SN children board.

Report
Ineedalife · 17/04/2012 21:21

There are 2 that don't get much traffic, one is in this section by the SN children and the other is in Education.

I can understand the the one in education might need to stay but it still doesn't get much traffic compared to this board.

Why is education split between education, primary, secondary, etc. Let's just have education.

There are far too many topics on Mumsnet now.

I can see the need to keep SN Teens. Although it currently has very little traffic, it should grow as our children move into their teens.

But SN Children deals daily with:

SN Education and SN Legal. In fact it difficult to divorce SN Children from these other 2 SN areas as lack of SN provision at school invariably leads to SN Legal as we force LAs to Tribunal to acknowledge our childresn's needs.

I think it's a shame when parents post on SN Edication / Legal and get no response whatsoever. There were comments on a Chat thread today from parents who had posted in the SN area and received no replies.

It makes the SN Children board where most SN parents do post, look 'cliquey' and it could be construed that new posters in SN Education / Legal are being ignored - when the reality is that those new threads go unseen.

sn teens was good idea(well of course as it was mine:o)
but it never took of imo.

I have to agree with Wet. It seems such a shame that posters get no response and maybe give up when there is a wealth of support and knowledge on SN children.
