message boxes disappearing -help!

HOW frustrating is that? several times today when I click on 'add a message' I get this big space or silly tiny tiny line instead of the usual 'add a message box' and I cant click on anywhere to type! its very frustrating having something to say and no way of letting MN let you!
its okay tech, if you tell me its my computer (tho dh says it isnt.........) as long as you tell me how to fix it!!
