Thought I would make it easy for MN to see what the lovely mumsnetters are feeling about this advert. If you don't mind it being there then post here.

i dont mind it either, if mums want to breastfeed they will breastfeed and if they wanna bottle feed they will bottle feed, dont see the big deal about the ad tbh.

i think its ok.

BF is OBVIOUSLY best but if it doesn't work, you have tried hard and it is getting you down then BF is not the be all and end all. Being a happy mum is more important i think then your baby will be happy too.

I'm not unhappy about it.

I give women credit to make their own decisions.

Don't mind it. I think whether you want/need to bottle feed or not its up to the individual and they will do it regardless of an ad.

I don't see the harm, if you don't like it don't use it! Think we are all grown up enough to make our own minds up about wether to breast feed or bottle feed with out a website!

I actually have a mind of my own and an advert would not convince me either way. I think its good that we can see info on breast feeding and bottle feeding. I am 21 weeks pregnant and intend to breast feed for 6 weeks BUT will then bottle feed. Whats the problem?

starshaker

just to make it clear - I am happy for the ad to stay

Doesn't bother me TBH. I am able to make up my own mind over how to feel my own babies. Do wish their was more IMPARTIAL advice adnd ifnorammation about both breast and bottle feeding though, rather than it being pushed at you from all angles.

Report
Hulababy · 23/08/2005 21:22

ooops - there NOT their

Havn't even noticed the ad.

But i don't have a problem with it. If you are looking to buy formula you want to know what is available as much as if you are wanting to breastfeed you want as much information as possible.

Women are intelligent enough that one advert is not going to make them decide against breastfeeding.

I think it should go
for all the reasons discussed on the other thread

RTKangaMummy · 23/08/2005 21:25

I think i is OK for it to be there

I hadn't seen it either

I think more support should be given to bottlefeeders

I think its OK for it to be there. I really do believe that people on this site will not turn to the 'dark side' because of it.

I don't mind but then I had to bottle feed. Do the breast feeders mind, and does it make any difference if they do? Mumsnet isn't a breast-is-best/LLL enclave after all - it is inclusive, thank god.

Would teetotallers mind if alcohol was advertised? Would dieters mind if chocolate was advertised? How effective is advertising anyway? How gullible are we all?

Hula, I love "ifnorammation" - you got any going spare?
