second education post ive done !!My ds freaked during grammar test and did not pass .School wonder if we should appeal as he would be suited to grammar .In unsure on what basis we could appeal - surley lots of children would not be appealing just because it went wrong on the day or there would be many appeals on this basis? does anyone know on what basis appeals can be made and also good grounds for appealing- ? There seems to be big buisness on the web re how to do it ,but you have to pay for access or purchase book -the book I saw via amazon had poor reviews.Any advice would be appriciated.Thanks.

As the school have suggested it, why don't you ask them what the options are. Don't mention it to your child though. If you do decide to appeal, I'd say get the primary to lead any approach you make as it'll give you a stronger footing with their backing. Though I'd still say it's a very, very long shot tbh.

I know locally to us where they have grammar schools there is a board that you can appeal to. The board is composed of head teachers and they review the work of the pupils from the school and along with reports from the school make a decision whether they are then of grammar school standard.

Do not know what they do in your locality but your primary school can advice. However that does not get you a place only potentially confirmation whether they are of appropriate standard to got to a grammar school. You would have to go through the appeal process in the hope of getting a place. Your grounds for appeal have got to be based on the fact that your son had a bad day when taking the exam

have a look at the elevenplusexams.co.uk forum, there's a board dedicated to appealing, I'd be tempted to say he wasn't well but that's me.
My friend appealed and got offered a place on 2nd September to start on the 3rd, very stressful summer but worth it as he's doing so well.
