Yes, we do, and she absolutely loves it. The teaching standards are incredible and the staff are lovely, but the discipline is straight up no-nonsense. Mr Whitworth is an inspirational headteacher.

What would you like to know?

I have a son attending and agree totally with what you have said. I have applied for next year's 7 for our other child, hopefully we will get a place. Was just wondering what other peoples views/experiences were.

Hey Comet - are you going the quiz night tomorrow night?

Glad to hear you're a fan too. Our DD is in year 8 and we just thank our lucky stars that she's at Wren and so happy and confident and really (gasp!) enjoying her education.

You get a feeling that the staff are truly on a mission to educate the children - not just for exams but for lifelong learning. If that sounds a bit happy clappy, well, perhaps it is. But it's actually very exciting too - even for us parents. The standards some of the children are reaching in subjects like science and maths are quite awe-inspiring. And in general, they're a genuinely well-behaved, happy bunch.

Re religion, Emily - it can tilt a bit heavily to the God-side of things (in my opinion - don't know if Comet would agree?), especially as we are comfortably atheist, but hell, if that's the worst thing you can say about a school, you are in a seriously good place.

I'll say it again - Mr Whitworth is one amazing head teacher, not least because he knows how to hire excellent, inspirational teachers.

Not going to quiz night tomorrow, did go to the last one though.

Love the staff and must totally agree that the kids are very well behaved (no jumping on desks here, hope not anyway). The school already has a good reputation for discipline.

Re. religion, I don't think it is leaning too heavily towards the God side.

Ditto for the Head.

By the way we are year 8 too and gratefull to have had the chance of being the only year in yr 7. The children are much more
confident because of it.

Our son is in Y8 and daughter accepted for September. We're delighted to get her in, the catchment area is getting quite small already!

Wonderful school and just had Ofsted inspection that praises them very highly indeed.

Unusually for a secondary school there is an active PTA with its own website friendsofwrenacademy.wordpress.com

The PTA is holding a Summer Festival the afternoon of June 12th. Could be a good idea to go along and meet some of the parents, look at the kids already there, and check out the facilities.

Yes small catchment, hoping to get my daughter in, her first choice! but we live 0.829 miles away and the catchment has now dropped down to 0.650 miles away this year - bummer, she would have been in the last two years running!!

Good information from everyone, keeping her on the waiting list (no. 5 currently) and everything crossed!!

Good luck, Sue 41. I really hope your daughter gets to experience Wren. I think it's a very unusual and amazing approach to education. I know our one loves it. Which is so lovely.

Dear Eurot

Thanks, we got in on appeal.

Has her 'trial' day tomorrow.

Over the moon, really think the school will be great for her. Lovely to see all the great feedback.

Tks again
