Can A level modules be cancelled?

DD was listening to the radio this morning, and after weeks of work (hmmm) for her modules, understood the presenter to say that because of the weather conditions, A level modules may be cancelled.

I have said that this isn't right - don't want her to stop now! - but could it be?

Dd thought that the exams might be cancelled, but apparently that is not so.
