Headington Girls School

We are grappling with girls day schools in the Oxford area. Went to see Headington on an open day - need to go back solo as it was a bit of a zoo - but wondered if anyone had any up-to-date or local views on it. Also wondering what the views on the headmistress were - I found her rather a cold fish, but then she said a few things that were interesting and made me wonder if there was more there than I previously thought.

Anyway all views, however short, v much appreciated please!

It was one of the top 100 private [sic] schools in this months Tatler supplement... if that's any help

Hermione goes there.
It's fecking expensive. £25k a year iirc.
It has a pretty sign.
I know nothing else.

It isn't very expensive, in fact that is one of the nice things about it. It is £5000 a TERM LESS than the boarding school which is option 2 (because we'd be sending her as a day girl)...

Hermione is about to leave unfortunately!

But thank you for noticing my thread anyway

It's the same price as Cheltenham Ladies isn't it?

Report
princesspeahead · 13/10/2008 20:03

no day fees are about 2k a term cheaper than CLC

but that isn't the point, I want to know what it is like as a SCHOOl, I know how much it costs already!

Forgive me- it was your financial turmoil thread... was deepinlaundry

Report
princesspeahead · 13/10/2008 22:50

tatler!

yes I do keep plaintively asking about headington but clearly nobody has been there, nobody knows anyone who goes there, nobody teaches there and NOBODY CARES!

Aurgh.

CaptainNancy is a MUCH more swashbuckling name than deepinlaundry - good change

Ooh- no- it was deepinlaundry talking about Headington... I am not she, sorry if I gave that impression... though she seems to have namechanged or disappeared, yes!

I'm afraid I'm too far away to know about Oxford schools, though I could tell you almost anything you care to know about ones in a city 70 miles north

Sorry PPH, I have no idea, but I'll keep bumping for you. I do know a friend at CLC says they aren't as good at lacrosse

My SIL goes to a different girls' school in Oxford (I realise that doesn't help either really).
