Then again it may not help as mine is probably the only one to do so Please tell me I'm not alone PLEASE! So far been at school 4 weeks and lost three things - and don't say only three, the cost of replacing them is too much and two cannot be replaced easily!

My DS is in Yr 5 - had been hoping that I was nearing the end of this he can lose anything and everything - but alas - Did my good deed of the day - boarded a train to London - as the secondary school (boys) piled off - found PE bag and kit on the seat - tried to get off again but the doors closed so after DH phoned the school to let them know we had it - I carried all day (funny in meetings) and delivered it back to the school this evening - they told me this is ohhh so common - not much comfort really is it!

Hasn't lost anything yet but his new school bag got ripped then he broke the zip trying to shove his PE kit in it.

DS1 lost his entire PE kit in his first half term at secondary school and has lost two mobile phones in the last six months.

I provided a list at the end of year 7

He lost his school planner (we made him pay for it £5.00)- planner turned up 2 weeks before end of term

Pair of trainers which have never turned up.

PE kit including trainers goes missing on a regular basis, although it normally turns up a few days later. (was going to make him pay for the second pair of missing trainers before they turned up)

2 memory sticks. DS does a lot of homework on pc because of dyslexia.

At the school where I work the table by Student Reception is creaking with the amount of new kit that has been lost. There is a wonderful selection of shoes (pairs!), football boots, blazers, PE kit galore for all sizes and glasses. The PE staff and people on playground duty just dump it all on the table and lost property bins but few kids bother to collect it.

My ds left his brand new rugby boots on the bus - I made him pay for a new pair in the hope that he might take more responsibility. He has since, and seems more aware and responsible for his things.

I do feel that I might have been harsh for making him pay for a new pair but it appears to have worked!

Happilyconfused, I rang up student services quite a few times last year to chase up lost property. One time I got told DS had been in 3 times that week looking for his things, bless him

In the end DS did lose a complete PE kit including trainers. The kits have their initials on them and DS's never turned up.

Trainers get "lost" a lot. I do wonder about the parents whose kids turn up with trainers they've never seen before

So much stuff is lost at ds's school that the Parents Office hold a clothes sale every couple of months to clear it all out!

So far this term he has lost 2 sweatshirts (named), PE kit, and last November someone nicked his nice new fleece jacket (named), which has never turned up, so was obviously not lost.

We have all the items back bar the Fleece jacket, as I march him round school each day until we find the items, and haunt the parents office.

DS is Year 8, so it doesn't get better!!

Phew! Thought I'd be on my own. Have to hold back from getting cross and have told dc that it's coming out of pocket money for next 6 months or more depending on what else goes missing in the hope it stops soon and items are found but seems to get nowhere trying to find things or doesn't try enough. Wonder if it's worse with boys

My DS lost his entire PE kit on his first day - before he had even worn it . . .

So far ds1 hasn't lost anything!
Everything is named/labelled but afaik he hasn't even temporarily mislaid anything.

In one lesson he couldn't find his RE book in his bag (even though it was in there), so teacher "allowed him" to work on paper. He then had to copy it up into his book that evening and take it to teacher first thing next day.

That sort of approach at the school has encouraged him to get himself organised!
