Is there a strike going on, on Wednesday and Thursday this week?

Got a letter home yesterday stating that my DS1's school is closing today for the holidays instead of Thursday due to the Unison Strike Action. Am abit angry about the lack of notice from the bloody school. It's a good thing that husband is on his part of his shift so he can look after DS1 as I'm in work for the next 2 days!

Yes and its not just schools. In fact it isn;t the teachers striking!

Its cleaners, secretaries, teaching assistants, binmen, leisure centre workers and all other council staff.

Besides if ds 1 is of secondary age surely he can look after himself for 1 day.

my elder children got letters last week about the strike, but TBH, I already knew about it as a friend had heard about it on the news (I think?).

smaller children got told friday.

my littly got told yesterday that he wasn;t on strike!!!

I am keeping them all off, even my youngest, as there is no way that he will go in knowing his brother and sisters are not going to school.

they are expected to go back in on friday and monday tho, and tthen break up!, why can they not just finish this week.....sooooo much easier!

The strike days have been confirmed for a couple of weeks, maybe the school was hoping it would be called off? DH has had loads of emails/newsletters from Council Leaders trying to emotionally blackmail persuade Unison members into breaking the strike.

Err, no he can't look after himself for a day or as it is 2 days. He has dyspraxia and is not mature enough to be home by himself for a full day. I wish people wouldn't jump to conclusions. Just because he's in senior school doesn't mean he's able to look after himself.
