Not sure where to post this, need advice.

DD is 15 and was invited to sing in a big summer concert at a major venue. She did three days' rehearsal last month and was due to go on a residential course tomorrow.

Today we heard from the organisers that they missed her name off the performing licence application so 'she will no longer be allowed to participate'.

I've looked on the council website which says they normally need three weeks' notice but can occasionally provide a licence more quickly. But the performance is on Thurs (21).

Is there anything we can do? She's put loads of work in and has been hugely looking forward to it.

If I were you I would check with your LA (Or whoever issues the licence). I had to fill in a license application recently. The criteria for the license was to the words of "This license is required if a child is performing for more than 10 days or if the performance is to be filmed for TV purposes". But it seems each LA has its own license requirements.

It is usually up to the organisers of an event to seek the performers license. It is not your DD's fault if the organisers did not do so. Can you get them to fill in a late application and liaise with the relevant licensing authority?

Yes it is the organiser's fault but she is saying it's 'out of her hands'. I'm just trying to find out if it's really irretrievable. Thanks

Anyone have any advice or experience of this?

I don't think there's much that can be done, unfortunately. The production company would need to apply to the local council for the license. I did this for kids I teach last autumn and it took weeks - various forms passing back and forth and so on. They were doing a week of performances.

How devastating for your DD SadAngry

We had to apply to the LA ourselves on behalf of the production company

We've been very fortunate and she is now on the licence. An impressively competent woman from the production company was on the phone and on the case at 08:30 on Monday.

Also, the council replied today to one of my weekend e-mails with a helpful note of exemptions which could have applied to DD (it's a single performance).

DD is thrilled and the miseries of Saturday are forgotten Smile

Thanks for your replies
