Confused

I'm totally confused by my DS's end of year attainment level in science which is a 5L. Having looked at his year 7 test results which amount to 2 level 5Ls, 4 level 6Ls and 2 level 7Ls I'm struggling to fathom how his end of year attainment level can be 5L. If one averages the scores, surely the overall score must be higher than a 5L?

I have written to the school but with schools being out now, I doubt that I'll receive a reply until next term. Does anyone have any theories as to how the school may have arrived at this result?

Maybe he does well in exams or tests but hasn't handed in any homework so they haven't been able to assess that. Or maybe his practical skills need work.

But yes ask - they're the only ones who know!

I'd agree with Titchy - I expect the reports all had to be written some time ago and they were written on what he's been producing in class. Maybe he pulled the test results out of the bag unexpectedly ?
That said, I'm just speculating too - best to ask the member of staff concerned.
If you've e-mailed, then they will be very likely to be clearing e-mails over the next few days, you might well get an answer before Sept.
