I am so mad with him . he has 2 lots of quite time comsuming homework to hand in when he starts yr 7 in september. ive been reminding him but he keeps putting it off. i sat down with him to try and help him this afternoon for over 2 hours and he still didnt get anything done apart from his name and the title. i am seriously thinking about just letting him go without doing it so he gets told off. what would you do???

Being in Scotland, I'm not sure how old year 7 is, but if he is in Secondary school, I reckon he should take responsibility for his own work...i.e.it should be between him and his teachers. It he gets told off, it's his own fault. On the other hand, he has my sympathy...I've always felt the holidays should be holidays and kids shouldn't have to do work over the summer. The discipline needed for doing work due in in say, 3 days time is nothing compared to the discipline needed when the work is not due in for weeks and weeks!

maybe you should just once let him get on with it himself. i'll explain... both me and my brother were quite good kids, we never sort of 'rebelled' or were horrible moody teenagers, but if our parents asked us or even reminded us to do our homework... we wouldnt do it. Even though we knew we should... and we could do it. We didn't. Yet when they never said a word we would sit in our rooms happily and do it.
Obviously if it doesnt work and they get told off then step in again
