My daughter is now in 4th year, does anyone know about exam dates in Scotland ......are they all different depending on councils? Looking to book a holiday for the Easter holidays but only flights I can get is a few days before schools break up and don't want to chance booking if it clashes with exam times.

I think the exam dates are all the same, there's only one examining body. Exams are generally in May, and into the first week or so of June.

Ok thanks, taking her out of high school a few days before the Easter holidays begin will be fine Smile

My dd is also in 4th year. I downloaded the timetable from the SQA website a few weeks ago - much to her horror!

The school will be horrified at taking your dd out of school at that time - last minute exam preparation. What does your dd think about it? I made the mistake of taking my dd on holiday just before her 3rd year exams (during holidays I will add), and regretted it because even though she took books with her to study - she really would have studied much better at home. The holiday was booked over a year in advance and I didn't realise thats when her exams were. Fortunately they were only 3rd year exams.

Your holiday wont clash with exam times but may affect her preparation. SQa exams are really quite important.

It was only going to be 2 days before the Easter holidays but the holiday is now booked for end of June, just before schools break up for summer so that way exams are over and she'll have her timetable and classes all sorted for 5th year.

Sounds more sensible. I don't take my kids away for Easter when they have exams as so much of their revision is now online and I'd rather they revised over that period. The schools expect them to be revising over the Easter holidays as well and they had past papers etc to do.
