Not the kids, love that bit :)..the politics, the lazyness of some kids, parents emailing thinking their child is the only child I teach, the workload...the fact Ihave a severely disabled son and my life is generally pretty shit. That's about it really.

I hear you and feel your pain. Teaching has changed so much in the past few years. It is not the job I used to love so much either. I love the kids, don't even mind some of the paperwork, it's just there is so much ticking of boxes it is exhausting. I want to put my energy into teaching, not pointless admin.

yup...I hate the accessibility of emails..parents contacting me over things which are tiny but take up sooo much time and are usually down to miscommunication with their child or complete lack of understanding about their child's course...as well as the politics, 'interactive marking' etc etc

Got out of secondary teaching.. best thing I ever did.. loved the kids too but the whole thing encroaches on your life.. I could never switch off or seem to enjoy teaching. Never again.

I also work in a school and the teachers are exhausted now as we head towards the end of term.

Some people make the most ridiculous demands - one parent complained to the head of year vociferously about a class teacher not responding to an email. She'd sent it at 3am and was complaining to him when she dropped the kids off at 8am.

And then when he used the words 'unrealistic expectation' she then complained about him to the head!

Hang in there. More kids and parents will be on your side than you realise. Others will come over to respecting your experience. Best wishes.
