Getting more and more nervous here.

Thinking especially about the Emanuel, KCS and Ibstock (well, have not done the exam for that yet so really just the first two...)

As Emanuel pre-interview everyone, they send out their offers/rejections on 14th February by post so you won't hear anything before that.

Don't know about KCS or Ibstock.

shall we handhold together? I think KCS said they would call for interviews next week so we'll know soon enough. We are also waiting on CLSB - as DS is doing 13+ he has yet to sit his Hampton exam.

I hear that some people are already getting letters through, ahead of the 14th feb date.

So, lets handhold!

St Clements, THIS or next week?

Thanks, I have by mistake thrown away the letters in a post exam excited flurry. Hmm

PureQ I hear that some people are already getting letters through, ahead of the 14th feb date.

Sorry - which school did you mean by that? KCS or CLSB?

None of these. I was just wondering if the rejection letters are sent out earlier, or the acceptance letters in case some turned their place down in order for more children further down the "waiting list" could get offers early.

Never done secondary admission before so not sure what to expect. Parents locally seem to have differing experiences.

PureQ, from my understanding (and current experience) a school might invite your DC for an interview and then you get the final judgement letter on 15th Feb (posted 14th). Some schools (Hampton and KGS for eample) send out a rejection letter at the same time as they make the interview calls/letter. So effectively it is a culling process in stages. I think KCS are calling this week for interviews next week with scholarship calls first. I am not sure if they also send out the first round of rejection letters at the same time but I am expecting it to be the case as they offer more places than they have.

Can you tell I have been thinking about this a lot Wink?

So, if we dont hear anybody by end of tomorrow that means we were not successful for KCS?

sorry we are 13+ so we may be on a slightly different timetable (was your exam 19 Jan?), but my understanding is that we won't hear until next week about interviews (or not) - I will check the letter when I get home. It sounds like you won't know on Emanuel until the 14th though.

Yes, the exam was the 19th. He says he did not do as well as he hoped, so we dont really have any expectations.

so it depends on which schools - on their stated timetable, CLSB is actually later than KCS at calling for interviews despite the fact that their exam was earlier.

DS said the maths was easy! which always makes me worry as writing is not his strength....

Report
PureQuintessence · 24/01/2013 16:03

DS did not think that maths was easy at all, he said he figured he only managed 75% correct. I reckon there will be plenty of kids who sail through it and get everything right. Only 11 places for 11+ I understand, and hundreds of kids sitting the exam.

We got a phone call from KCS for being invited an interview this morning.
They are now sending the results!
It was to my DH's phone, which I didn't expect at all!

Regarding the test last Saturday, my DS said maths was okay(his strong subject though), eng was quite tough. so, no idea where he stands, but phew...am glad he has reached this far. Smile

was that for 11+ or 10+ ? my DS sat 10+ but I am not wildly optimistic......

kingstontwinmummy · 24/01/2013 16:45

i've just spoken to admissions at KCS and they are notifying 10+ parents all the way up to next Friday (1st Feb), so the very kind lady said if we hadn't heard anything by then to assume its a no.....

tomtommum, do you know if that applies to 11+ too?

Well done Kingstonmummy and DS.

Report
PureQuintessence · 25/01/2013 14:24

I hope it applies to 11+ too....

I feel like the worst mum in the world putting my son forward for KCS, with so few places available and so many applicants.

But I guess the same could be said for Ibstock and Emanuel too. And he has his last exam tomorrow. I just want to wrap him in cotton wool and feed him chocolate and ice cream. Go through all this, with the possibility of not getting any offers. sob.

I don't know if it applies to 11+ as well - sorry, pureQ and castles, in the heat of the moment I totally forgot to ask.

However, logic would dictate that if they all sat the written papers on the same date and offers are being sent out on the same date, which is indeed the case, then I would think 11+ interview calls will go on til next week.

But that is pure speculation on my part....
