What is the pass mark for Tonbridge CE Test? Is the school in the same league as Eton and Harrow?

65% same as Eton higher than Harrow its a very good school with a modern ethos but only 60% boarders and only a handful of full boarders but good train links into london and slower train links in to east Kent!

All we know there or who have been there recently seem to really like it. it's got a very good academic reputation but is also known to be very sporty with excellent facilities. Radley is exceedingly traditional and old fashioned Tonbridges head was a long time master at St Pauls a school not only known for its academic excellence but it's 21 century ethos.

Meant to say Radleys academic standards are improving all the time but I think Tombridge would be considered more academic.

Don't you have to register at Radley when they are newborn in order to get a place? I registered ds at 6 (years not months!) and he is on the waiting list for his proposed year of entry.

There is always plenty of movement on the waiting list, many people use Radley as a back up and if they get into the school they want a place becomes free, there is also of course the Wardens list.

I'm not do sure about that. Radleys academic results have significantly improved and from what I understand from talking to parents whose DS's are either at Radley or would have liked them to be at Radley it's becoming increasingly difficult to get off the waiting list.
It's true full boarding and not everyone's cup of tea but it certainly has a lot of loyal followers where we live here in the Shires.

Someone I know got off the list last year and as far as I was aware they were not at the top of the list, but you may be right,as the school raises its academic results and its CE pass mark perhaps its time to get rid of the waiting list and go for the year 6 interview route.

I suspect the wheels of change move very very slowly at Radley!!

Our son is on the Wardens List for entry in 2016. We are really keen for him to go despite our Head describing it as a 'longshot' as we aren't from one of the regular feeder schools. He's above ave intelligence, dislikes rugby (!) but plays golf every weekend and enjoys (and is good at) cricket. He also really outgoing, been given a lead in the school play and won the inter-house school singing competition. Has anyone any experience of the Warden's List? The Registrar, Vanessa, has appeared very friendly. Many thanks.

We sent a boy this year to Tonbridge, he had scored about half way up the list on his pre-test. We don't usually feed to there, that's not an issue if the child is right for the school! He was above average academically, but not Tonbridge scholarship standard, very musical (flute and singing) and also an all round sports type.

He's having a fab time!

DS is now on wait list for Tonbridge. Wonder what's the scope of places opening up...
