does anyone know the criteria for bursaries?
is it income or exam result or a combination of the two?

bursaries are both - income related but your child needs to do well as well. The bursaries can be very generous if needed though, and there are not many extra expenses.

thank you

primary school has advised me she would pass the entrance exam but I was wondering if it was worth tutoring to up her score and increase her chances of a bursary

I'm a single parent so have no hope of affording the fees so just want the best chance of a good bursary

If you can tutor her yourself without any cost then yes i'd go for it - is she y6 at the moment? If so then it's only for a few months.

she's just gone into year 5 but scoring NC level 6 in both english and maths

I don't want to rush the secondary decision, plus if I decide to go for a selective school I want to give her the best chance to pass the exam as I know the content is not necessarily what they teach in state primary
