Secondary School Admissions Policy

We have applied for my sons place at secondary school; results due on 1 March 2012 to confirm our place and am sure will get our top choice as near enough the school.

However, also trying to buy a house and wonder if we move over the next few months, whether next year when we are offered the place at school, if we will have to provide proof of address and if so, it may affect our chances on getting into the 1st choice school.

We have already provided proof of address - council tax statement - but wondering if we need to provide proof of address again once place is offered?

If anyone knows, would be very helpful, although appreciate the rules may differ in each area.. Many thanks.

Read the admissions booklet. If you move before the offer I think you have to tell the LEA.

I would really not move if at all possible till after 1st march.

There will be a cut-off date for telling the LA about a change of address. Given that the date for submission is probably the end of October the likelyhood of you moving before that date is low.
If you then tell them after the cut off date, then your application will be treated as a late application and be dealt with after all others.
So do not move before the date of March 1st when the school places are allocated.
