Can you recommend a really good latin text book - for yr 9?

TIA

I did the Cambridge Latin Course but this is also good I think. They will more or less cover the same grammar/ vocab etc and will get into reading proper texts which will also help.

Cambridge Latin Course, with its associated online activities is very good.

My son uses Wilding I understand that its very very dry but an excellent book for grammar. He has completed all of Wilding 1 and is now onto Wilding 2 he is 13 but thanks to this book working at AS level.

I was part of the group that tested the online Cambridge Latin Course. We used the books in school and my teacher had helped to do the online one so she used it with us. It was brilliant, especially when used with the books.

Ecce Romani is also good, but maybe less accessible.

I don't think that Cambridge Latin teaches grammar very well but it is very good for translation/comprehension. We use Galore Park "So You Really Want to Learn Latin" alongside, which works really well. GP is very rigorous on grammar but DS1 finds it a little tedious at times.

Ooh, is Ecce Romani still kicking round? - we used that for my Latin lessons in 1984! It was quite good fun, though.

It was when I left School in 2008!! It was considered pretty old school and retro, but made a nice change from the happy clappy colours in CLC.

Yes DS uses it at school. He has just started book 3 this year and his copy looks brand new so I am sure it is still available.
