Can anyone please offer any advice to us,we live in a semi/town that started out as a village but has grown in size, our primary, junior & secondary are all on seperate sites & are all excellent in standard.
Our secondary is slightly over subscribed from the nearest town,2.5 miles away, their secondary is failing & numbers are decreasing yr by yr.
Our secondary is rated 5th in Wales, failing secondary is 75th,the council have just dropped a bombshell on us that they are in consultation to close our school & merge it into the failing school.
The failing school building is in a bad state of repair, has a terrible bullying record,& also the council have said they will not be providing school transport so all pupils will have to either walk down a country lane that has no footpath or get dropped off by parents.
The council is also planning on building an additional 400+ houses near the failing school so where will all those potential school children go?
They want to merge the primary & junior & put them into the secondary building & sell off the land from them to then build houses on.
Obviously we are fighting this as hard as we can as we have a lovely school with manageable class sizes,it has a happy atmosphere & really gets results.
Can anyone please offer us any advice on how to fight this?
I am off out now with a petition so i will answer any questions/replies later.
Thankyou for reading if you got this far & again please help us if you can.
