Hi - are there any mums out there who have kids in Gunnersbury Boys RC Secondary? What do you think of the school? Are you kids happy there? Any information would be really helpful. Thanks.

DH has been there a couple of times.
He says no comment
Its a typical boys Catholic school!

Hello - who or what is DH? And what is a typical boys catholic school. Sorry to be dim but this is all new to me and I feel a bit overwhelmed by having to make the right choice of school. Thanks

He goes to lots of schools - too many details would identify him and therefore me!

Boys schools often smell of wee and have lots of broken bits
Catholic schools are often disorganised and very multicultural
BUT they are cheery places and the staff and kids seem happier there than at many others
and they pay his bills promptly - always a plus in my book!!!

TalkinPeace2 - I hope your DH isn't as negative and perhaps as cynical as you - perhaps even bordering on @@@@@. Gunnersbury school is an excellent school - with several students reaching Oxbridge each year, many to great universities plus a great mix of sport, music and the academic.

deadbeat
I'm delighted that the school has got kids into Oxbridge.
My cynicism is based on feedback from the number of schools I hear about- over 100 a year.
It's not hard to do well with the top few.
Helping the middle invisible block achieve is the trick that only really good schools manage.

Exactly - and that is what GBS does - achieve academically and in so many other ways - for all the students - which perhaps as a non Catholic you would not understand

Thanks for the intersting perspectives. I am worried about single sex schools, even if they are good academically. Do you know anything about Cardinal Wisemans Catholic school in Greenford.
