South London School Places without Specific Criteria Such As Catchment, ETC

Please help...are you aware of any secondary schools in South London without specific criteria such as location or a minimum test mark of 90+%. I am especially interested if such a school exists in Lewisham, Lambeth, Croydon or Wandsworth....even if the percentage places are offered, such as 20% to non-residents.

Thank you for your help x

lots of schools in that area take a percentage of children from each ability band so the 'catchment' can be pretty wide for some bands depending on how many have applied

Burntwood (girls) is slap in the middle of Wandsworth borough but has an enormous catchment area - we know pupils going there who live virtually in Dulwich

Wandsworth education dept have a booklet about applying for secondary schools which sets out the admission criteria for each school - I'm sure the other boroughs must have something similar

IIRC, Wandsworth doesn't have catchments and is all on distance from the school (but I may be a couple of years out of date about this).

There are usually spare places in Battersea Technical College (or whatever its name is this year) on Battersea Park Road. Somewhat to my surprise, I noticed it was one of the most improved schools in the country a year or so ago (according to The Times), but it was also one of the first with its own police officer.

Kingsdale - no catchment, lottery + some "scholarships", though I'm not sure how they work.

But it is now massively over-subscribed.

Ah yes bigTillyMint the infamous Kingsdale! Are there other schools like Kingsdale in other LA's.

Look up Trinity school in Lewisham. It's the most improved school in Lewisham - 54% a*-c's last year (to put in context, it's gone from gone from 28% in 2008). It's a church school, but I think there's only 20 % foundation places.

Lovely new building and very impressive new head - catchment area was 12 miles - now it's 6 miles. Don't know if that's any use?
