hello does anyone know what the chances of getting a place if we are 6th on the waiting list?

It depends on the school. My daughter was about 11th last year and got a place.

6th sounds pretty good, but it depends upon how likely people are to drop out. Do you have (private / state depending on views / finance) schools nearby that some people might prefer?

not sure about private schools around here,rang the school today ,tomorrow is the last day for people to send in there request to stay on the waiting list,she said 3 people in dd band havent replyed as of yet so she is now 3rd ,fingers crossed they havent sent them.

i agree totally with bigTillyMint! my son has been No 1 on our preferred schools waiting list since he was in reception, he is now in yr2 and still waiting!!! it all deoends on the likelines of someonw dropping out, in most oversubscribed schools most chikdren stay on and even when parents move they dont change school they just commute!

i declined the school they offered her it wasnt even one of our choices ,so dont know what im going to do if we dont win the appeal ,i dont really hold much hope for that,so im just hoping the waiting list moves quickly.

My friend is a school secretary and she says there is always loads of movement on school waiting lists.

However without wishing to pee on your parade you can also go DOWN a waiting list as well as UP-sorry.

Fingers crossed for your dd that she will get to the top of the list.
