Have been calm and collected regarding process and have only just started to feel anxious and twitchy re upcoming March date... this I is I know entirely pointless as there is little choice and it is a bit like the weather -I have little control over the process. I am however still waking up in a sweat and getting knickers in a knot!!!!!
Anyone else feeling the same?

Yes. Cannot stand waiting anymore......and we still have 4 weeks. Speculating and rationalizing........

You are not alone, it is hideous. I think it is so hideous in fact that lots of people are not talking about it Smile[shhhhhhhh lets hide until its over]

The process has just seemed to last forever for my dd and myself.. and now we still have to wait another four weeks!!! I even dreamt last night about getting the results through the post and in my dream waited for the postman!!!! aaaah indeed. Please let this not happen every night for the next four weeks!

It is hard to just forget about it for four weeks. I am so sensitive to every move and comment her school headmistress makes.....do you think that they know about it??

I think in some areas they know a week before we do. It my be yet another rumour though Grin

It is a riduculous process. I would rather be told i have no choice rather than everyone pretending i have a choice. The choice thing just seems to make a lot of work and stress for us but really you still get no choice IYSWIM

yep..agree...have been waiting too long. We start this process in September, visit lots of schools, read reports and listen to PR sell. We've done a few tests... they're now just finishing off practice sats- and I think my dd is just knackered and just wants to move on.. and sooo do I!! The really good news is that I will be in this situation in exactly two years time! DH although interested and did his research doesn't seem to have the same involvement, apart from the very odd "she's not going there" remark..bless am sure he is just better at keeping it all more in perspective. I am very glad my anxiety wasn't

high at the onset..gawd knows what I'd have been like be know in that case!

I know a few people that have actually been broken by this. I am also very laid back and it has been stressful to say the least.

quite right- choice is an illusion dreamt up by governments to win votes..

our reality is which makes it really silly..is that I wouldn't be entirely disappointed with any school on list- but I know where she wants to go...that's the bit that makes it hard.

Yes and there are always friendship issues.

Report
friendlyedjit · 04/02/2011 11:42

indeed there are, and although it is nice when they do get to go with a couple of friends..I have been gearing up how positive it is to have a break and have an opportunity to make new friends. One of dd's best friends is a dear boy who will be going to local boy's school..I am sure they will continue in contact.

A cup of tea would do me, but I have to leave in 20 minutes, so I don't think I would have time to finish it. I ate a Tunnocks just now, better hide the evidence before the children come home.

Report
Cherryonthetop · 04/02/2011 14:42

A Tunnocks is nice but one is never enough, they are entirely too full of air.

Report
HappyHome · 04/02/2011 15:22

Oh please can I join you for a Wine
I cannot believe how stressed out I am about all this, I have been waking in the early hours of the morning worrying that we've made the wrong choices!

On the other hand DS is completely laid back about it all.
