Hi
Ive just found mumsnet and am looking for some advice one way or the other about school entry and my very mixed feelings and uncertainty
We live just round the corner from Notting Hill School (in Ealing)
Eldest DD is currently educated at another local primary only private prep school, when we moved to the area NH couldnt take her but her current one could
She enjoys the academic side of school and does OK within her year group without being in the brightest top 4-5 girls
She has friends in her year already at Notting Hill who are assured of entry to the secondary school and it also happens to be our nearest school too so we would all like her to go
Now for the stressful bit......
After a lot of her class took the entrance exam for NH only my daughter was invited for an interview, none of the obvious 'bright' girls were, although they all live out of the area
The exam itself was a shock, we expected the school to be popular but were not prepared for the sheer number of girls sitting it not to mention the distance many of them had come!
So I dont know what to think
Has she been called to interview because private school take a token number of locals???
It is possible she outscored her own schoolmates in the entrance exam - but I just dont see it as harsh as that sounds
Id love to hear of anyone else applying for admission to Notting Hill and Ealing school this intake
Thoughts, comments and suggestions welcome
And yes NH is her first choice, we arent pushing her but it would be nice all round
Its the interview which has confused us - Im sure her pals would have done better in the exam but they didnt get called
And I know I should relax :)
Thanks for being patient
