Ds2 11 had to leave secondary school , there was bullying and he couldnt cope . The school had suggested aspergers and wanted to have him assessed.
i requested a camhs appointment myself as he is also very emotionally unstable since. He had been ok at Primary.
just had a call from the school i am trying to get him a place at to go in a see them.
Do i tell them everything that has gone on ? do i tell them i think he needs special help and that we are looking into aspergers ? will they not want to take on a problem child ?

he was never a problem at primary and my first reaction to the schools suggestions was no way , but now im not sure except to say he needs help coping so this doesnt repeat.

please advise , i am clueless !
the school are usually oversubscribed and i was told that they can take additionally kids depending on the head and the circumstances.

Do tell them! They can not discriminate.

They either have a place and therefore have to take him - or they don't have a place and therefore can't take him.

But if they do know then when they do take him they can start to help him....

Tell them. If they don't want to accept your child because he possibly has aspergers, then you don't want your child to go there.

Cheeryface,
The head has no discretion to take extra pupils. The only people who have any discretion are the LA under certain very limited conditions and an appeal panel.
You should also be aware that as from last September the school do not admit in-year and that all admissions at any time of the year are via the LA admission team.
You need to see the school and discuss your son's situation with them but the LA admission team are the people who can say yes there is a place or no. If it is no then you have the option to appeal. If you appeal then you need as much paperwork as possible to show what the previous school has or has not done to help your son and convinve the panel that you do need to get your son in another school. By going and seeing the school you can actually be positive (hopefully) as to the reasons why you want this particular secondary school.

oh right thanks, so , i have sent in a transfer form to pupil services and now been asked to go and see the school. does that sound as though they are actually offering us a place then?

Well the school is not allowed to carry out any kind of interview before offering a place, so it sounds like it is a meeting to discuss integrating your child into the school. But it might be worth asking the question over what the reason is to go and see the school.
