I don't know if it's just me feeling in a melancholy mood, but can anyone share a happy thought, story or whatever. Not necessarily relationship related, just something that brings a smile to your face and maybe your fellow Mumsnetters and me too Smile

When I got in from my exercise class this evening, the cat ran up to me miaowing and purring, and then spent a while headbutting me over and over. It's a silly little thing, but it makes me beam every time. He was such a shy, scared little bundle when I collected him from the shelter, he hid behind the sofa for two months! Now he's my big soppy tart.

I've been away from DH with DD (2.5) for a couple of weeks, visiting family. She was chatting to him on Skype yesterday and told him in perfect toddler speak that she loves him, wants to put her suitcase in the trunk of the airplane and go home to him. To give him a biiiiiiiig hug. And a biiiiiiiiig kiss (with her arms outstretched). Made both of us melt. They are becoming totally inseperable, it's the loveliest thing watching their love grow.

My father has had a big health crisis recently. Still a long recovery to come, but I found out he's being discharged tomorrow. A massive turnaround on the feared outcome even just a few days ago.

I'm 18 weeks pregnant at a ripe old age after giving up that I'd ever meet someone to love me and have a family with me as I thought I was too old. Tonight my lovely labrador who has been with me through thick and thin looked especially adorable so I got her to hop up on to my lap for a cuddle. As we had a lovely cuddle my little baby started kicking and kicking for a long while. It was gorgeous. Poor little thing was probably getting squashed but it was so cute I didn't move the dog.

Was laughing about something today that happened a while ago, no idea what reminded me.

Male friend who is the oldest of 6, I commented once that he had wide hips for a man. In front of the group of us he said "it's from carrying children..." I looked so bloody confused as did everybody else... Turns out he thought that picking up and carrying his much younger siblings in the typical toddler straddling your hip lift, had made him think this was the cause of wider hips. He had no idea at all that wide hips from carrying children was actually due to ever being pregnant. Grin Nobody filled him in so he is possibly still saying this to people!

What a good idea - I think we could all do with some happy stories, the news is just so miserable and the nights are drawing in.
Two things made me happy today:

  1. I visited work (I'm on mat leave) and I got a lovely welcome from everyone, it almost made me miss the place!.
  2. I just spent an hour curled up watching TV with my beautiful cat asleep on my lap. It was just like the old days pre-baby! My beautiful baby always makes me smile!

Was sat about with friends, many years ago now, when one of them spotted a thermometer on the side and popped it into his mouth, after some time he took it out and read his temp before asking if anyone else wanted a go on this 'really freakishly small thermometer.' Without even looking up my friend whose house it was replied 'not me mate, that's the cats thermometer.' The moment it dawned on my friend what the full implications of that were was priceless.
