So background story..my ex was my first love together for 5 years have been split up for 11 and eventually became what I thought was great friends...I have no feelings for her whatsoever. (We arr both women) anyway I am back in america visiting everyone and had lunch with my best friend who told me shes been telling everyone we slept together....we ha ven't and I am furious!
To be honest I have always felt a bit uncomfortable with how touchy feelu she can be

There was another occasion I had to move back home for 6 months and she told everyone we were going to get back together which was a total lie but I brushed it off to the side. How do I deal with this woman? She is otherwise a great friend but completely deluded.

Not a lot you can do. It's flattering? She obviously feels the need to imply you are her have some sort of relationship going on.
Ignore!

if she is lying about you she isn't a "great friend"!! She isn't - friends don't tell lies and spread rumours about each other.

have you confronted her?

I'd dump and move on.

It sounds like she can't differentiate between being friends and having a relationship, you need to talk to her tell her how you feel and that there is no way your getting back together but you cherish her as a friend, if she doesn't listen then friendship has to end. Don't ignore the situation it'll only make if harder in the long run

they haven't been in a relationship for 11 years!! That is some delusion.

I must add she is bipolar and has had two very serious overdoses...blatantly not cries for help but two very determined attempts not surprisingly over rejection from a woman. I feel sorry for her and would like to remain friends but am so frustrated by the lies and lack of acknowledgment that she needs help. She wants to hang out today but I feel smothered and not sure what her intentions are. I am not the only woman she has done this to.

She's an ex, not a friend. If you're determined to remain friends, you're in for more of the same treatment. Best to consign her to the past so that she has no more influence in your life.

BTW... if she is suicidal and has MH issues she needs medical treatment and psychiatric support. Whatever your history, you are not the right person to help her and you should not let her behaviour make you feel guilty. If she threatens suicide when you stop being her friend, call the emergency services
