How do you get over feeling broody?
How do you come to terms with the fact that your family is probably complete?

It is inappropriate for me to be feeling that I want more children now: I'm in a new relationship and we suit each other really well. I hadn't thought that different ideas about more children was going to be a problem... But I feel in my heart that I would love for us to have a child together. Help me find a way past it

I want to be with this man more than I want more children, so how can I stop feeling this way?

I don't know, I have been having children since I was 17 and I don't feel like my family is complete yet with four, I'm just lucky that DH agrees.

I am guessing you have spoke about more children with him and its a no? I think the trick is figuring out which is a deal breaker and since you have said you want to be with him more than have another child then no more children isn't a dealbreaker.

Remind yourself that the way you're feeling is probably down to hormones? I would imagine that there's some kind of evolutionary "thing" which makes you want more babies with a new man if you already have the experience of having children, something about diversifying genes as much as possible.

I'm confused about what you say about differing ideas, though. Before you met him did you want more children and now you don't because he doesn't?

Thanks for replies..

Brokenhearted... The head says I would rather us be together and no more kids, but the heart says have both!

Lally... Yes 'it's not a deal breaker' is a useful line to remember... You are lucky!

Bertie: yes, I'm sure it's driven by hormones. By differing ideas I mean that he feels quite strongly that he is 'done' and I don't (yet)

. I just want to know how to get over the yearning. I accept the idea in my head, but the feelings don't go away just because I accept the logic.

Any more ideas about how to accept in your heart?
