What's protocol,do you have to go to a partners night out if you don't like them?

Have been invited out tonight,I know that the girl only invited me because my DH is best friends with her DH ,I have never really seen eye to eye with her,we get along for the sake of our husbands but just lately I have hit a mid life point where I have started to think, really I am too busy to attend these events where you smile through gritted teeth and pay a babysitter for the privilege! The only reason I would like to go is because I like to stand by my DH and I know he likes me with him but I have been depressed of late and it leaves me feeling anxious that I may say something I regret in the middle of their 'putting the work to rights' conversations

Hmmm. Does DH really want to go?

Is it a one-on-one thing or will there be other people there? Just how irritating is she? Can't DH and his friend just meet up by themselves? Do they know you don't like each other?

Avoid. You are given consent to avoid.

I had a mid life, 'I ain't takin' no more shit', moment and life has been sweet since. You will feel empowered of you just say no. Be polite but tell DH if he wants to see his mate, he does it without you. Why worry about upsetting his wife, you don't even like her and if pressed, politely explain why you don't. You are very unlikely to be pressed for why though. You have the right to stay at home OP!

I'm in a similar position with my fiancé. The "queen bee" wife of one of his groups of friends really doesn't like me. I got to the point where I wasn't willing to sit being ignored by this woman (and the other females in the group) so told DF I wasn't going to any future gatherings. The fiancée of another guy in the group was also ostracised - luckily I get on with her!

Women can be such bitches. Don't go tonight, why waste time and money when you will be sat there wishing you were elsewhere?

No you need not go. Only go out if you want to but please don't let her presence stop you from having a good time. If you go you could smile politely upon your arrival at her then ignore her for the rest of the night.

You don't have to go.

Say I gave you permission to be absent.
Grin

There comes a time in everyone's life when they realise they need do only what THEY want. I think you have reached that point.

DH had a friend who was a total cunt and we hated each other though I got on well with his GF. I used to go along to meet-ups occasionally for DH's sake. After a bout of extra special cuntishness on friend's part I refused to see him any more and DH fell out with him anyway so it's no longer a problem fortunately.

Say unfortunately you have FunkyBold coming round this evening and you can't attend. Then of course, as I am your invisible friend, I don't show and unfortunately you had to spend the night on your own eating ice cream.

Such an unfortunate turn of events!

I'll be there too! A pint of builders tea (no sugar) please! You won't see me of course, or funky, we'll be there though so you can't go out. You're not joined at the hip!

Avoid.
I had a huge falling out with DPs friend after u called him out for being a massive racist, and as I've had the audacity to not apologise for this I'm being blanked. By fully grown adults.
Fuck that shit. I'm almost 30. Don't like me? Don't care. I just cut these types of people out of my life.
