Dh and I got engaged after 6 weeks. I was 21 and he was 20. People were understandably a little concerned Grin but we knew it was right, and we were engaged for three years before we got married. We saved for our first home, went on holiday, went to gigs, and had a fab time in those three years.
We were married for 14 years and had 2 amazing sons before the boys and i lost dh in a horrible car crash 9 years ago.
I am v happy now with dp, but I still miss and think about dh every single day - and ds2 is is becoming his dads double as he gets older.

2blessed - that is so sad about your husband. I was 20 and also knew it was right.

Got together in 2000 (I was 17yo); got engaged a year later but couldn't afford the ring I really wanted, let alone the wedding Grin He bought me the ring of my dreams in 2004 and we tied the knot in 2008 - still together with a 4yo and soon-to-be 1yo.

Would have married a lot sooner if we'd had the money

8 years, and by 'engaged' I mean he finally befriended a jeweller found someone who could make our rings, i.e. my engagement and our wedding rings, for a good price.

All very Mills and Boon.

Moved in together after about 6 months and got engaged after couple of years. Married for 8 years with 2 Dc age 6 and 3. Very happy! I think your family ought to direct the eye rolling at your sister if anyone!

OH asked me to marry him after about two years. We didn't officially "get engaged" as I don't like rings and we were skint anyway and I thought buying a ring would be a waste of money. We got married 2 1/2 years after first meeting and have been married for nearly 32 years.

Met in Dec (we are talking end of 80s). Moved in in January. Engaged mid March, so 3 months. Married 1.5 years later. Marriage lasted 20 years when for various reasons we both agreed over. 1 lovely teenage child. We remain close friends, he came with me to view the apartment I bought after we sold the matrimonial home. We still do Xmas and birthdays as a 'family'. But we both have our own new partners now. I wouldn't change any of it. It was the 'Time of my Life'. There is no right formula.
