If you have Young kids, what do you wear to bed?!

My dd is 2.8 and whilst a good sleeper generally, she does wake up now and again. Either she'll call me from her room or just appear next to our bed. Feel awkward to sleep naked incase she walks in but also feel bad for dp cuddling his mrs in jammies and (at the moment) stubbly legs!

Nothing. My DS gets in to bed with me most nights, even at six years old but I am covered in the divet so he is not forced to look at my naked body!

I even stroll to the bathroom and my DC even come in to the bathroom when I am naked in the bath.

So you are worried about what your DP thinks and what your DC thinks... What do you think? What do YOU want to wear?! :)

Naked, never been any different. Got a dd 2.11 yrs and a DS 11.9 yrs. I do have an ensuite now though.

Whatever you like....I can still remember the joy of cuddling in to my naked mother when I was small and couldn't sleep....as for my own DC well they know that my bedroom is my space and if they come in I might be naked. DS is 11 and still comes through occasionally during the night. Funnily enough he will happily sit and chat to me while I'm in the bath....but he's nearly sick if he comes in when I'm getting dressed and sees any underwear. DD sleeps like a log....always has done...

OP It's what you feel comfortable with...but would consider the extent to which you are letting yr DC dictate your intimate time with your DH. You know it's not the end of the world if yr DC see you naked...or even if they catch you and DH at it....

I'm in full jamma. I'm not tripping along the landing in the nuddy! Its cold at night in my house. And if I did have to comfort a child in the night I don't want to be sitting on their beds with nowt on. Especially as they are in full jammas too.

Pj bottoms and a vest top. I like to be warm!

Naked - why would your dc seeing you naked be a bad thing? I always wear nothing to bed, walk to loo/shower naked, children see me wash & dress etc - no issues.

Otoh, worse things will hapoen to your oh than sleeping next to a clothed partner. Wear what you feel you want to.

Nothing. I try to wear PJ's but always wake up naked. It's not a problem as I'm covered with a duvet and have a dressing gown within arms reach. Just do what you want to do.

I usually wear Pj's and DH pretty much always sleeps naked. DS (4.5) nealry always jumps into our bed in the morning. He doesn't take any notice of what we are or aren't wearing. He's too busy telling us to move over because we are squishing him-or telling me to move my leg because 'your fuzzy leg is itching me'!!

Whatever makes YOU feel comfortable.

You can leave a night gown next to the bed, should you need to get up, for example.

We're well past this stage now, but when DCs were little and inclined to migrate from their own beds to ours in the early hours, they invariably found us clad as nature intended! We were always very open about bodies, and DCs learned from a very early age that birthday suits were likely to be encountered in bathrooms and bedrooms, and that this was entirely natural and nothing to be ashamed of.

Naked here too. My parents were always naked (at home) and I've always thought it a positive as I have grown up with tremendous body confidence and no hang ups about being naked myself.

Depends how cold it is.

I'm not worried about DC coming into bed when I'm naked as they have their own covers for when they do.
Not because I don't want them to see me naked - they see it enough when they invade my shower time etc - but because I don't like sharing! Grin

Nothing at all. That's how I like it. Why you be bothered by your child seeing you naked?

Report
Startail · 02/02/2013 15:50

Nothing.
I tend to have a long night shirt on the floor by the bed for if it's cold or something is needed from down stairs.

Early morning horse riders can see straight into our kitchen.

And to paraphrase OP's original question:

If you have young kids, does what you wear to bed affect what they wear to bed?

Report
Xalla · 02/02/2013 16:30

Naked. I keep a pair of pj's or nightshirt by the bed for middle of the night Calpol dashes and such. Also tend to stick it on if DSD's around but couldn't give two hoots about my own two DC seeing me naked!

DH and I both sleep in the nude. DD is currently cosleeping with us and 5yo DSS not infrequently comes and joins us in bed in the morning in a transparent attempt for us to get more time in bed when he wants us to get up. We also wander around nude, although I do own pjs for morning coffee making/post evening bath sofa time.

An oversized tshirt so i feel covered up if i have to go to the bathroom etc in the night or ds comes into bed and still leaves access for DH and I if we have the energy to do anything naughty

I also feel the cold so can never sleep without anything on my top half unless I'm on holiday in the summer somewhere hot.::::

I'm amazed at all the naked sleepers!
