Please can you advise what I can feed my 9 month old son, to get him to gain weight?
I'm breastfeeding still but trying all sorts of diets to remove whatever gives him cramps, makes his bowel movements irregular and makes him squirm all night long so he doen't get a good nights sleep (and neither do his dad and i).
I'm also feeding him solids, but his weight gain stopped at 7monhs and i'm so worried..
please help
also you will have to give up the things your LO is allergic or intolerant too as he may be getting it through your BM
yes as misdee says if intolerance it won't necessarily show in testing.
my DD severely intolerant to dairy, soya & oats but is ok with egg. She is now 17mths and was diagnosed at 9/10mths.
You need to see either pead or dietician asap.
you need to see a dietician.
dd4 has allergies and not intolerences, AFAIK, intollerences cant be tested for as such but are determined by symtoms. apart from maybe lactose intolerence? i think that can be tested through stool samples.
My DS was tested for all those things at 7 months.
If your gastro wants you to cut out all those things then you should really be seeing a dietician as well.
Have you cut all these things out of your diet as well as you are still bfing? My DS reacted through my breastmilk.
Avocadoes are high in calories. you could try roasting veg in olive oil and then pureeing to add calories.
misdee thanks fo rht enotes. diodn't realise you could get a 7month tested like that. my gastro told me that it's not useful... ive been pushing for testing for a while as he's had these issue since he was about 3m
i tried him on meat and he got really constipated and hasn't really recovered well. he's also getting darker shadows under his eyes now...
iam seegin a paediatric gastroentereologist, he's put us on a egg, dairy, soya, wheat free diet to see if it helps, suspects some sort of gut intolerance/allergy but hasn't singled out what it is yet as my baby doesn't seem to be getting better. used to be a chubby little fella, now he's stopped gaining weight and i'm so worried andwonderig if i can compensate iwth increasing his calories.
he's eating carrots, banana, rice millet porridge, courgette, sweet potato, potato, swede, papaya, mango, gonna try him on broccoli now.
sorry for blunt reply, am feeding dd4 at keybaord.
when you say you are ;trying all sorts of diets' what do you mean?
ideally you shouldnt be cutting things out completely without seeing a specialist about it.
what is he eating?
dd4 (7months) is milk-free (apart from breastmilk). she eats a lot of meat and veg, rice, pasta etc.
we havent yet introduced eggs, nuts, fish, soya etc as waiting on her blood results
You really need to see a dietician and talk to them about it
see a gp, get refetrred to clinic and see a dietician.
