And about time too. Except that I don't believe the stuff about not wanting babies after the way she has been with Bethany. Did she just say that to put Tom off?

Can I have a rant about Pat. All that fuss about 'we are a dairy farm, I've been around cows all my life blah blah blah'. Has Pat ever had anything to do with the herd, apart from processing the milk. She wasn't the one doing the milking every morning and evening.Hmm

So, yet again, I am bemused by Bridge Farm economics. It's not that long since they bought the freehold so they must still have a huge mortgage. If they get rid of the herd then what are they going to do with the land - it's got to produce an income somehow. Are they really going to drop something which currently makes money for Tom's pie-in-the-sky, might-work/might-not-work plan. In the middle of a recession? Does not compute unless Pat & Tony suddenly go capitalist and rent out the land or build a mini housing estate. I can't wait for Brine's reaction.

I think Brenda does want children, but has realised that if she has them with Tom that they will always come second to 'the business'.

R4 - I think it was mentioned that they rent some of the land - I assume they would give that up. I too did wonder unless they are going to grow more veg.

That blog, the story of Bridge Farm, says that they own 140 acres and rent a further 32 acres from other landlords. I suppose it all depends on which land is suitable for which type of farming.
Another thought. According to Tom the market for surplus milk is too risky, with price volatility. According to Tom it is not possible to find enough organic pork for ready meals, hence going for welfare-friendly.
So if the farm is already certified as organic (how many years does it take to get status? it's a huge barrier-to-entry for competitors) why not switch to pigs instead of cows? They are less labour-intensive (better for Tony and they can get the likes of Jazzer to do the gruntWink work) and, it seems, the market is wide open.

I think they should expand tom's organic pigs onto that land. Pat likes looking at the cows :o

I could see the split coming a long time ago, so we've got another 2 singles to match up in TA, excitement!!!!

I don't understand why Pat has never mentioned that a MIXED organic farm is what sustainability is all about THE DUNG which is used on the arable land. Surely the Agricultural Advisor would know that? They'd have to buy it in.

Pig dung would be too strong wouldn't it?

Hmmm, I've been egging her on to dump him for ages, but it all seems to be getting messy now.....I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up staying.

She can't carry on living there, cooking for him and even sleeping in the same bed!

Why TF didn't he chuck her out? What would anyone expect?IMO he's not that bad its only that he's obsessed with work, why is that so wrong? If he were a woman it wouldn't be so criticised on here.
