Tom is a dick but I'm glad he's there. Surely first up against the wall are elona and darrel

Oh yes, her voice drives me mad, slightly worse than the lamb killer Pip,but Tom is trying to destroy everything his parents have worked for, just to save his sausages Grin

He is a dick and he's going about it totally the wrong way, but I think he's right that Bridge Farm will have to seriously adapt to have a viable future.

Meant to add - absolutely hate Darrell and Ilona. Why on earth did they bother to introduce two such boring, whiny new characters?

What did Tom do?

Tom - the organiser of planned fun. I like to dislike him.
Then again Brenda can be a right drag.
I just dislike Iona and dreary Daryl.

There's a live Q&A tomorrow with 'Tom' on BBC website - wonder if he'll be answering as Tom or the actor (also called Tom!).

Aw, I really felt for him them. But Brenda is annoying, he'd be better off with Kirsty.

Bet you're sorry you called him a dick now...

I've never really understood why people hate Tom so much,I feel really sorry for him now.I know he's obsessed with his work but aren't most young man at that stage of their career. He knows that he is soon going to be the main financial provider not just for him but also for his parents and now Helen and Henry.

That farm is going to have to support at least 4 adults and he is soon going to be the only one full-time .A bit of ice cream and yoghurt and a few veg boxes is not going to cut it in the long run.and thats quite a big burden to carry ,he is more representative of the farming industry than the whinging and whining Pat,you can be as sentimental as you like but ultimately they have to make money to survive .

He was always the also ran to John and I was just waiting to see when Pat was going to say that John wouldn't have got rid of the cows.could never see what Tom saw in Brenda, she always seemed a bit parochial to me

Shock
Tony & Pat could sell the farm & associated businesses and retire on the money. Tom is not doing them any favours in taking it on, they would probably do him a favour by giving him terms that no bank would contemplate. And it should be a transaction that is beneficial to parents and all their children. It has been a storyline before and, no doubt, will be again in the future.
Not quite sure why Tom is supposed to be a provider for his sister and offspring. Does your brother provide for you? Confused

Because its a family business , none of them have any other sources of income they are all a partners in the farm but atom is the only one working in it full time .It has to make enough profit for each of them to draw a salary .

If I remember they all hold the loan to buy the farm so Pat and Tony can't sell from under him but equally the farm has to make enough money to pay back the loan

If I was him I would offer them his share and walk away with his pigs , I wonder how much money they make on ice cream and yoghurt and veg boxes compared to his ready meals and sausages
