light, small, one handle?

posted this the other day but nobody seems to have a Britax B Mobile so hoping that someone might read this again and take pity! Any advice, Britax, Maclaren or otherwise gratefully received.

Had my mind set that I was going to use a sling from birth and not bother with a pushchair, however, have since had a change of heart as I realised I was probably being quite selfish and grandparents wouldn't want to use a sling (all in their mid 70s) but would want to push their grandchild. And they've offered to pay.

So I've narrowed down the requirement for a pushchair from birth, the most important being weight, then size, and preferably with one handle and found the Britax B-mobile 4. www.britax-b-range.co.uk/B-Mobile.html

It looks like it will do everything required but just worried about the width of 62cm, seems quite large? Also are 3 or 4 wheelers better?

Can anybody enlighten me as to the pros and cons of this model?

Have now started to look at Maclaren XT as seem to be plentiful on ebay, but open to suggestions.......thanks

Can't really comment on the Britax pram as never owned one. Looks fine for a pram that won't be used every day although the frame looks quite thin so could be a bit rickety.

62cm is an average width for a pram. Three wheelers are probably wider than four wheels

What about something like M&P Luna Mix? Or if you're looking for a three wheeler and light, then a BJCM would probably be your best option.

thanks 5, both look like possibles. Have to accommodate 4 grandparents with various ailments, dodgy arms, shoulders, backs, hence why I was looking for something as light as possible and with 1 handle, the Britax is only 6.4kg.

What's the deal with 3 wheelers, I'd always thought it was more of a trend than anything practical for a city dweller like me. Are 3 or 4 wheels better, is one more stable than the other?

Had a good try of the Britax in Mothercare and seemed quite sturdy, although this being my first venture near pushchairs I wouldn't know if it was or not. Some of the others I was shown were definitely a bit flimsy and it didn't seem to be that.

Don't know how much walking you do, but keep in mind that it's not just the baby you have to carry--it's all his/her STUFF. And newborn babies have a lot of stuff. Pushchairs are great for holding nappy bags, carseats, shopping, toys etc as well as the baby. You can always sling the baby and just put the mountain of crap in the buggy.

I'd recommend a bugaboo bee if it's not out of your price range. And also, don't buy any pram without looking at it first--you are probably going to use it daily for the next 3 years or so (and more if you have more children!) so it's worth it to invest.

bee definitely out of my price range, was looking at £200 max. The bee also reminds me of the walking frame with wheels my nan used to use!

I do a lot of walking now and anything goes into my rucksack. will have make myself into a baby/rucksack sandwich when she's old enough to go on my back though

4 wheels probably more stable for older people as less likely to tip over as weight more eveny distributed iykwim.

I had a go with the Britax in mothercare the other day and with my 18 month old in it was impossible to push one handed and generally wasn't very easy - the wheels are really small. The seat unit is quite flimsy too.

I just bought a baby jogger city mini which I love and would be great for a newborn - the new ones have really big baskets too.

However, if you're not going to use it much a maclaren techno is brill as fits from birth (with a decent lie flat) and doesn't take up much room
