First time mum to be needs help!!!!

I am just looking at the plethora of buggies available and with every new page and review I read seems to be ever more confusing!

If anyone has found a good basic buggy that is compatible with a car seat and can cope with muddy footpaths, rough terrain etc please do let me know, it will save my sanity if nothing else!!!

Am not interested in cool, more mud proof!

Thank you so very very much

Maxi cosi mura 3. A lump of a buggy but virtually bombproof!

Baby Jogger - got it through a ploughed field recently! But only fits the car seat when in newborn 'bassinet' mode, once you take that off and attach the 'buggy' seat at around 6 months or so, no longer compatible, so might not be what you are looking for.

Best ever for quality is the Jane Matrix - I live on farm and this one is now 3rd hand. Loads on e-bay!

Jane in my opinion is the best on the market for quality, strength, longalivity and comfort, yes - heavy but better than these flimsy over chromed ones with wheel that wear down.

I have another Jane that stays in the car as the wheels get stuffed full of cow s@@t and straw.

Both 2nd hand saved a fortune and both were spotless. Worth every penny!

I agree, Jane are fantastic. Slalom Pro or Slalom Reverse are the three wheelers, with the Jane Matrix car seat if you want to use as a travel system.

I think i'd like a slalom R. Am going to recommend it to my niece also. I've seen a few slalom pro's with the rear wheels sort of splaying out but the slalom R has a different rear axel and brake though.

Many thanks all for your thoughts - mud is a way of life here and most of the ones in mothercare look seriously flimsy!!

Stunned that so far no-one has mentioned mountain buggy?? I bought one recently for muddy walks, we live near the beach and for running etc. Personally I love RF buggies but I love three wheelers and these are serioulsy made to last.

They were originally made in New Zeland (though no more so don't get a 2010 model as made in china) and really are suitable for taking up mountains and every type of terrain!! You can get carrycots and I think car seat adaptors. Light to carry and push, the seat is like a hammock so it 'swings' cushing bubs over rough ground. They are expensive new but are built to last and last and last.

This is so useful, I was going to post the same question, its getting one thats built to last for off road dog walking isn't it! For dd (5) had mamas and papas sport but broke the wheels after about 18mths so really need to find something more heavy duty, but on a limited budget so will have a look at second hand too. Any more recommendations?
