Double buggy for London buses?

DS will be 2.4 when DC2 arrives.

I don't drive and get buses all the time so I really need the holy grail of double buggies that is:

  1. Narrow enough to fit onto a bus
  2. Not horrendously heavy
  3. Able to fit a tallish toddler plus newborn for more than a few months.

I quite like the look of the Out N About Nipper, but am unsure about how it will fit on the bus.

I know lots of people have the P&T but when I tested DS in it in the shop there didn't seem much room for him and he seemed pretty uncomfortable. I also found it quite hard to push and steer but perhaps a higher spec model is easier? Either way - so many people have got the P&T that I'm starting to think it really must be the best available for my needs, imperfect though it is. What do you think?

I have a McLaren and a sling and will get a buggy board for some of the time, but often we're out and about all day and DS does like to nap, so a double really is necessary.

Your wisdom on this matter will be much appreciated.

I had a v narrow McLaren twin, can't remember exact type, but was barely wider than a single.

I have a MacLaren Twin Triumph, it is the narrowest width buggy AFAIK, it will fit in a standard doorway (i.e. go through the doors in your house)unlike most other side by side doubles.

I'd recommend it highly, bought it from Boots.com for £150.

To be honest though, I'd just stick with a single MacLaren and a buggy board if you can - perhaps put new baby in a sling so your DS can kip in buggy if he needs?

depends on your bus routes and how busy they are with other buggies

twin triumph is probably your best bet although it's not the best for pushing about

maybe measure it against the double nipper
