Baby Jogger Summit

Random post, I appreciate. We have an Uppababy Vista, which we love. Our DD sleeps in the carrycot in the day, and I wheel her around whereever I am in the house. DD is only 8 weeks, but huge, top 91st percentile, and very long. There is only three inches left in carrycot (I just measured), and she is growing like a weed. I understand I?m not meant to use the pushchair, till she is 6 months old, but I don?t see the carrycot lasting her past four months (if we?re lucky).

I have a solution of sorts. When we were pushchair shopping, I was very taken with the Baby Jogger Summit. However, we were not in the market for two pushchairs, and Uppababy was a better all-purpose pushchair. We have an outdoorsy lifestyle, and I thought I?d use the sling for walks. However, despite my intentions, I cannot get used to baby wearing and DD prefers pushchair.

I?d like to buy Baby Jogger Summit for daytime sleeping, and off-road walks. Is two pushchairs extravagant? Can I justify it? Should I just put her in cot in day, and use sling for walks? The Summit can be used from birth, so do not need carrycot. I thought I?d get a footmuff to go with the Summit, to make it nice and cosy.

I have not told DH my intentions yet. I think he?d agree, if I can find an offer for a new Summit or a second hand Summit. The cheapest I can find online is £275.

Wise mumsnetters, what are your thoughts?

We've got two pushchairs - I bought a second-hand Baby Jogger on eBay for £50 so that I could go running with DD. So, no I don't think two pushchairs is extravagant but DH isn't best pleased they both live in his garage

Thank you Snowgirl. We've got a while yet, I'll just keep searching Ebay. We have lots of room for two pushchairs, it just seems frivolous.

It is NO WAY frivolous

especially when one of them is a Summit. They are simply the best off road buggies out there. Massive and so sturdy, with the huge hood to keep the weather off. Yet, pop the wheels off and they are the same size as a city mini.

I adore mine (can you tell?)

Mine is a second hand one and doesn't have the PE board in the back, but it has the slot in the fabric so my dad made me one for it (I didn't like the way DD slumped).

I got mine for £180 second hand, but it was immaculate and had never been used off road.

Sorry, I'll stop raving about them now.... Blush

Daisy how did you get up to 7!! Wow!! You are doing ok aren't you?

2 pushchairs is definitely not extravagant. If you buy well, and sell well, the use is often free! :o
