A solution for my double pushchair wishes

I would like a single that can take a buggy board or convert to a double. Would a phil & teds do this?

I have a 2 year old and a newborn. The 2 yo goes to nursery 2 days so I won't always need a double.

I feel stuck in the house at the moment and need a transport solution!

A phil and teds would do it, as would several other things depending on what you want in a more specific sense. Something like a Babystyle Oyster Max would work well, the Oyster board is supposed to be really good. Hmmm TFK Joggster Twist with buddy seat, they do a buggy board (and a mamaboard - whheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)

Basic questions, what sort of budget, what sort of terrain and what are your wishes when it comes to seating (as in carrycot or not, baby on top of bottom etc) do you have strong feelings on any of these features? People vary a lot, some dislike the baby on the bottom, some dislike the toddler down there, some can't stand the thought of a tandem "with a child in the basket" at all...

Thanks for the reply. My main criteria are that it folds up small and is cheap second hand. I'd love an all terrain one but think I might be asking too much there!
I don't mind if its a tandem or not although a tandem might work better as my front door us quite narrow.

Ha! Okay, so no issues with the baby in the basket concept then!

So, Phil and Teds, baby underneath, toddler in second seat on top. When single main seat just laid flat. LOOOOADS of used bargain ones, the sport is reputedly the best model, the V2 I think. The fold is simple and I suppose fairly small for a tandem.

For something slightly different you could look at a britax b dual, again lots of used ones, both seats lie flat, different combinations and it's robust. But it's wider, over 70cm in the wheelbase with the wheelguard thingies on. Loved it but was too wide for me.

Side by side I might look at a Mountain Buggy Duo, the newer duet is quite a lot more expensive, depends how narrow you would need. The Duo is 74cm.

If you don't do a large amount of walking and your toddler won't need to sleep then I had one of these and it was brilliant. Fits a lot of prams but would do best on something with an extending handle. Oh bother, I forgot the terrain bit didn't i...

The problem for me is the word "cheap"...what is the budget?
Reading your message through, if its mainly for nursery runs then the Mountain Buggy +One would be good. The Oyster Max would get you through most places and the B-Dual is pretty good over most ground too. For serious off road you would be better with a side by side double. I would agree that the best P&Ts is the Sport, but equally I think all the suggestions above are probably better, if your budget allows :)

I loved my Joovy Caboose, but I beg to differ because it wouldn't be perfect for a newborn :( There is no lie flat recline and that means the baby has to travel in a car seat, which is not the best place for a baby to be more than necessary. You also are stuck with the buggy board part once the eldest has been dropped off and it feels a long way to the front child. For an older baby and 2 yearish old, a Joovy Caboose is a lot of fun though!

Not sure if practical as not sure how long you'd be out, but could you get a sling for baby?
