Bugaboo Donkey

Hi

Just wondered if anyone is using a donkey for a new baby and a toddler? I'm due in 2 weeks and I haven't bought my double yet, can't decide! Ideally I'd like a Donkey but I'm not sure if my DD 2.4 is too big for it? Most children this age are out of the 3 in 1 system and into a buggy. DD is currently using BJCM but I'd prefer something more substantial for new baby than the BJCM double.

So, anyway, question is if you are using a donkey for a baby and a toddler, how old is your toddler and would you recommend?

Thanks

I tried my 2 year old DS in the Donkey as I'm currently expecting DC2 and he filled the seat already, there's no way I could justify the price when he would be uncomfortable in there (particularly wrapped up warm in winter).

Would you feel more comfortable using the BJCM double with a carrycot for the new baby? I'm sure that's an option. And it would be a whole heap cheaper than buying a Donkey!

The pushchair addicts that I know (part of several groups!) are really impressed with the oyster max.

I had a Donkey for my 3 year old. She was fine in it until she was about 3 and a half, and then I became worried about the weight in the pushchair (and the splaying wheels) and decided to stop using it. But your 2 and a half year old would be fab in it for a while. Bear in mind the hood can be raised and the seat and leg length are good on the Donkey. I think its always easier to see how much room there is once spring / summer arrives and there's no more bulky coats as well.

You could add the carrycot to a BJCMD which would work well. It certainly gives you a parent facing option.

I love the Oyster Max especially for an older child. However look carefully at its limitations including what car seats can be used (no Cabriofix at the bottom for example) and although parent facing the upper seat is a FAB newborn option, it can leave the footrest too near the face of the lower child. Watch the lower seat recline too. But there are ways around most of these issues, and I think the Oyster Max is a good option.

The iCandy Peach Blossom 2 is another good option for an older child. There is plenty of space in the seats if they are properly adjusted, and I think the Peach Blossom 2 and Donkey probably offer the least compromises of any doubles.

Thanks so much for all your repliesz. I'll look into the Oyster Max too.
