Has anyone heard of Push prams?

Hi,

I'm a bit early in my pregnancy to buy a pram but I've been browsing and looking at prices. I came across a company called "Push prams," based in Oxford, that sells a nice-looking pram with lots of features for a good price on eBay. It looks like a new, small company. I like what I see (and have a soft spot for supporting small businesses) but I wonder if anyone here has heard of them or has first-hand experience with them? They're not easy to google because of the name. If I'm still interested when the time comes, they say you can arrange to visit and see a pram in person. Is this a bad idea? Should I just stick to major brands?

(The travel system is £239.99 on eBay)

Honestly, I think you should maybe stick to something that has reviews, OR else take someone who has some experience with you ie more than 2/3 pushchairs. Fold, lift, carry, move the seat round, recline the seat, lift the seat off, put things in the basket etc etc.

If I were supporting any small business, take a look at the Mee-Go Pramette. Its gaining a good reputation and the guy who owns the company, has brilliant ethics - he's constantly trying to make his products better because he has his own child and wants the best for him. Its very light, the package comes with everything you could need and I really like it a lot.

Hi ananikifo & Tiggywunkle,

I hope you don't mind me adding to your discussion. Firstly, thanks for the part about 'nice looking pram with good features!' That is exactly what we are aiming for!

Secondly, I completely agree with Tiggywunkle that you should take a look at reviews and also use the advice of an experienced friend. As a start up we don't have a lot of reviews at the moment but you are more than welcome to try the pram and see whether it works for you and your lifestyle.

We're a really open and honest business who are not in it for the hard sell. My girlfriend and I are huge design fans and, as a company, aim to make stylish, functional pushchair design more affordable and accessible. Push was started up partly in response to our shock at the enormous prices people were paying for pushchairs and other baby items.

There are lots of different suppliers out there doing excellent things, as demonstrated by Mee Go for example, and we hope to be one of those companies that people recommend and talk about.

Anyway, that's just a bit about us!

Best wishes,

Leon
Owner - Push

Its great that someone else is making affordable pushchairs because trying to recommend a good mid price pushchair is actually harder than you think!
I have been looking through your website again. I like the shape of the chassis and that you meet the British standards for fire retardancy because a lot of pushchairs on Ebay dont.
Good luck! I admire you for having a go! Will you be at Harrogate?

Thanks for having another look through our website!

It is interesting that you picked up on the fire regulations because this was something that baffled us for a while when researching suppliers and the competition. On the one hand we could see what the regulations were and what was needed and on the other hand we could see all of these companies on eBay selling a huge amount without them.

We're satisfied that we've done our homework properly, such as contacting Trading Standards to check we've interpreted the legislation correctly and checking out the credentials of the companies that do the audits of the pushchairs and the fabrics.

This was the single hardest thing to research and delayed our delivery for so long!

With regards to Harrogate, it is unlikely that we will head up there this time but are very keen to attend in the near future.

one comment if you're a start up, if you're calling yourself push you'll be very hard to find on google compared to having a more unique word. There must be thousands of webpages with the words push and pram.

I just wanted to say I bought one of the push travel systems about 3months ago and absolutely love it. Its really light (we live at the top of a hill) but it also seems to be really well made and strong. Feel like I've discovered a real gem. I did a massive lot of research and have compared my wheels to other prams and travel systems and still feel like I made the right choice. I recommend push to my sister in law too and she has now got one of her friends to buy one! Viv
