Calling all runners!

Which pushchair do you use for running, and are you happy with it?

Looking at the out n about nipper sport which is reasonably priced at £270 - any experience with that one?

The pushchair would be used for running only - very happy with our other one for day to day walks.

Thanks!

Just a final check to see if there are any buggy runners around!

I don't run (at all!) but I am a bit of a pram nerd so know what criteria a pushchair needs to fulfil in order to be used as a running pushchair.

You are looking for a handbrake on the handle bar, wrist strap (though you can buy these as after market accessories so not a deal breaker if it's missing), at least 16" wheels (12" is good for walking off road but not for jogging) that are preferably fixed not swivel/fixed, air tyres, good suspension & have a good weight limit for the child. More here & here

Baby also needs to be at least 6m for jogging on smooth paths or 12m for jogging on rougher terrain or running in general. Running by a road or on rough terrain really requires the child to wear a cycle helmet in case the pushchair over turns or is in an accident to give some protection.

Thanks Truth, that is really comprehensive and useful advice.

Sounds like finding the right buggy and running with it is not going to be straightforward. I hope I can make it work!!

So lovely of you to do all that research! Thank you!

Looks like the baby jogger is generally described as the 'gold standard', but it is quite pricey. As I am not really a hardcore runner might go for the cheaper out n about one.

Thank you again

I have one; it's suitable from birth, came with lots of good accessories and is great to run with. It is also lovely to walk with BUT it is very wide (so negotiating shops with close together aisles/racks not much fun); it is dead easy to fold and put up, BUT is cumbersome to lug around when folded. It is very comfortable with a good seating position.

Personally I think it's worth spending a bit of money on it; you'll get 3+ years' use out of it plus if you keep it in good nick the resale value is quite high.

Can't get that link to work for some reason... Maybe because I am on my phone.

But thanks for the tip about bearing in mind resale value - makes me feel slightly less bad about spending the money. Can't wait to get back into running... Breastfeeding alone doesn't seem to be doing it for me in terms of getting shape back and I won't stop eating cake

well that was my spurious justification, anyway Grin. It's the Baby jogger Summit xc. I bought it online and got a pretty good deal.
