Bugaboo help please

Am thinking of getting a bugaboo on ebay for dc4. The problem is I'm really confused about the different types! I know that the Cameleon is the ultimate, but why? And what do they do better than a Gecko or Frog?

I am mightily Confused. Help please!

Main difference with a cam is that the handlebar can be extended so good for taller people. Also think they're marginally bigger than the gecko but not certain of that. If you go on the website for bugaboo Ithink they have a comparison table that might be helpful.

I have a Frog and am biased as I think they are best :-)

I looked at the website but as the Gecko & Frog are now discontinued, it's no help at all! If that's all it is then I think I might go down the G or F route. Both DH and I are pretty average height so not really bothered about that.

TBH I'd never really thought they were up to much but trying out my sister's I thought it was rather nice!

Why do you think it's the best Lecohen?

I've had a cam and a frog, the frog is much more manouvarable so I'd recommend that every time. The frog does do somethings that the gecko doesn't but I don't know what they are tbh. There is a comparison table somewhere on the net.

I've found a comparison chart for all 3.

So the Frog is the lightest. The Frog & Gecko do have a slightly smaller basket, and no adjustable suspension.

Other than that the minor differences appear to be just that - minor.

May well start watching on ebay then to see how things go!

Thanks all.

Sorry, should have given a fuller post before...

The frog is more compact then the cam
Has nicer fabrics and better size/seat depth than gecko
Has a thicker handle bar that I prefer to cam and gecko
I don't like the look of cam handle when extended
I think Frog has an easier fold
The basket is still very roomy and am told the cam ones fit anyway (never tried)
I have seen both frog and Cam side by side and think it is cuter and more attractive....oh and the frog is more manoeuvrable and enjoyable.

Hope that helps

Sounds like you've given it quite a lot of thought. Which saves me from having to!

I think the Frog sounds like my kind of thing, and it seems to come in a v smart navy blue colour which is rather nice.

Oh, but I do prefer the new gel wheels of the cam to the regular air ones so bought those and sold the original set :-)

If you do go for a second hand Frog, ask for extra pics of the fabric as a lot of the used ones tend to have some sun fading...I have a full set of aubergine and black fabrics which are immaculate but I have seen some very bad conditioned ones too.

Thank you for the tips! I must admit that for such an investment I'd probably be arranging a viewing before buying. Most people are honest but you get the occasional person who's got rose tinted specs!

Yes, I once travelled an hour to buy a frog that was advertised on gumtree - we spoke loads before and I asked lots of questions...when I arrived I was HORRIFIED to say the least at the condition...wheels were battered, fabrics were filthy and faded, belly bar was bitten through and splits in the handle bar...pics showed NONE of the above!

So yes, better to view if you can!

The Geckos don't have bumper bars which i personally love...Plus my DD loves hanging onto it...Makes seat look more comfortable as the bar can help them wiggle around.

Best thing about the bumper bar is that you can hook the front of the cosy toes over it and is easy to pop them in without having to unzip it Grin

I have a navy blue frog from ebay that cost £145.I am just awaiting the (late) arrival of DC2 so I can take it out to play! It is in pretty much immaculate condition, I am really pleased. We might change the wheels for the foam filled. DP thinks he could just inject them with something you use as temporary puncture repair foam from Halfords.

I've recently bought a Gecko off ebay and I love it! It came with a few accessories which I didn't need so put them back on ebay - this reduced the cost of it to about £90. I don't mind not having a bumper bar.

The only downside, for me, is that I'd like a different coloured fabric for the seat and hood but they rarely come up on ebay like other models do.
