micralite fastfold - can I ask some questions

Can I ask some questions?

Does the chassis thingy fit easily in the boot of a car or do you have to take the wheel off

And, has anyone had problems with the front wheel breaking? If they do break is it easily fixable (DH is pretty good at that sort of thing) or not

We live in an upstairs flat and have have been given the carrycot of a fastfold (with the attaching rods) and I've seen a buggy second hand. I would quite like to have a proper pram for this DC rather than the old maclaren/sling combo I had for DS, but am not sure if it is going to work for us - it would mean carrying the carrycot downstairs and attaching it to the chassis which we would keep in teh car

What do you think - is that realistic or not?

Depends on the size of your boot, but I'd say it probably will. We have a Vectra and it fits fine and we used my mum's Twingo last week and it also fitted without any problems.

I've had no issues with the front wheel breaking so can't comment there.

I think your idea to bring the carrycot downstairs is realistic :)

My front wheel snapped, rang company where I bought it and they sent me a new one.
Only thing I would say is u may have a time when baby too big for carrycot but too small for buggy.
Ds was about 12 months before he sat properly in it, dd is 6 and a half months and not right in it yet.

We used to have the base (including wheels) in the boot of a corsa - it's quite small so fit well. Never experienced and issues with the front wheels - I have been using mine now for 3 years. I would leave the base and rod in the car and then bring the carrycot downstairs.

I found that DD wanted out of the carrycot at about 5 months - she would get annoyed when I tried to put her in. She was fine in the seat though (but it was winter and we ahd the buggy snuggle for it so that may have padded things out a little)

Thanks all that's really helpful. I'm quite tempted by the micralite superlight so might start another thread about that vs the fastfold
