The last time I bought a travel system was in 1995 when dd1 was born!!

I am now pregnant again due November and want to get organised. In my days it was just mamas and papas and john lewis and mothercare but now there is such a bewildering array of travel systems.

I have read some product reviews here but find there is so much info I don't know where to start!!

My priorities are only:

1 That it must have a frame where a car seat can fit

2 The mechanism must fold easily and as one ( if it has the buggy part) into the boot so I can fold down and hold baby with other arm

3 It must be easy to work out - no trap catches or complicated set up or down

4 It must be lightweight

5 Not cost the earth please!!!!

Thank you all so much

John Lewis and Mothercare are still probably the best places to go to have a play with things as they will have most brands. Once you have had a play and know what you want then you can get online and find the lowest price.

Micralite Fastfold/Superlight does absolutely everything you've asked for. You can get good value second hand ones on eBay or you can get the latest model (Superlight) brand new for £150ish. If you want a carrycot, then they're a little more expensive (around £240ish).

I have one of these as my second pram and it's superb. Folds one handed, stands upright on it's own, only 6kg and can have adapters fitted to allow you to add the maxi-cosi car seat.

Old model you'll find on eBay:

Should add though that the carrycot must be removed to fold down if you want this option, but can be folded as one when just the pushchair seat.

Just to add I had a micralite as my first pram from newborn and it was hopeless - be outgrew the carrycot at 2 months but was way too slumpty to go in the seat - as even the recline is not recline and no way supportive enough - I wouldn't use for under 6 months tbh.

Maclaren XLR?
