Talk me out of a Bugaboo Bee Plus please...

I have a Quinny Buzz which I actually quite like (feels solid, nice to push, good suspension, comfy for DS, forward/rear facing) but have a yearning for a Bee Plus. I have one DS 5 months, who is very long, and I mainly use the buggy for walking in urban areas, on the bus and in the car at weekends. My reasoning is

  • Quinny is too heavy and is knackering my back when I get it in and out of the car (Bee is 5 kg lighter)
  • Can't fold Quinny easily on bus, and takes up whole of car boot (Bee folds pretty easily)
  • No space to carry stuff in Quinny basket (Bee's much bigger)
  • Quinny is very wide and doesn't fit in small shops (Bee much smaller)
  • Would like rear facing completely upright option as DS likes sitting straight up

However
  • If I buy a Bee, I will probably want to buy every accessory going which will be £££
  • Bee might not be as comfy for DS suspension-wise?
  • Bee looks complicated to change rear/forward facing
  • DS is ridiculously tall, so might grow out of the Bee quickly?

Can sell Quinny and then afford Bee, just about, but not completely sure. Could anyone who has a Bee plus talk me out of/into one please??? Or recommend something else entirely? Thanks in advance!

I can't talk you out of it as I am expecting mine to arrive mon or tue. I hated the orig bee, far too low and small. I personally did not like the buzz and you will notice such a diff in weight with the bee and so so so easy to push.

Can you not keep buzz for everyday walking and bee for car/nippy? Tnink you are more likely to keep bee for this and get a cheap mac for the car.

My ds is also 5 months and very long (wearing 9-12 clothes) have not spent much on access as I also have two cams so already have a lot of access (though I did order the bright blue footmuff on fri!!)

Will report back when mine arrives

Another one here who can't talk you out of it. My friend has got a buzz and I really cringe whenever we're out in town together as she can never get in any of the shops easily and ends up leaving her DD with me while she mooches round as it's way easier than trying to navigate the beast round the aisles! The wheelbase is as wide as most side-by-side doubles! If you mainly do urban settings then the Bee Plus is absolutely the way to go.

The new bee plus couldn't be easier to change from forward to rear facing. Just pull it upright, then release lever and depress halfway, push the seat all the way forward and then life the seat up. Nothing like all the faff with the original bee.

And as for height, my 8mo DS is on 98centile for height and has absolutely loads of room. The seat is still on the smallest settings for backheight and seat depth and he's very comfy.

Can't comment on the suspension, but I suspect that for town use it won't make any difference.

So, go for it is my advice

Suspension on bee plus is fabulous. I liken the feel of it to pushing a little boat along on water.
Bee plus is fab. Won't be outgrown quickly as seat is extendable and i can get my tall 6y old in it!
Accessory wise, i would get the parasol rather than the breezy canopy, because the mesh that flaps about gets on baby's nerves when hood is pushed back.
Don't get the Bugaboo cup holder, get a couple of Bagabottle bottle holders instead (via ebay or the Bagabottle website) and a Bagabottle pouch too.

I have a Bugaboo liner and have found the softer Breathable side snags very easily. I prefer my snunkie custom liner, it's more durable. Also being custom a bit more unusual. (I got flames fabric one side and diggers the other, as our hood is red).
The Bagabottle pouch is fab, enough room for Nappies, wipes. Purse, keys mobile etc no bulky change bag needed. You can fold the bee with Bagabottle accessories still in place. They are so funky, well made, useful and inexpensive.

Thanks for the help - may have to bite the bullet, esp. as am going on holiday soon and if I take the Quinny may have to wear the same clothes all week as won't be able to fit anything else in!!!

My Bee+ has arrived and is fab fab fab!!! I took it out for a spin yesterday on the walk to playgroup for dd. I do normally use the cam as there is rough ground, gravel, crossing a railway cutting, muddy path and then pavement. Handled it like a dream, I was really impressed.

I still will use the cam but can easily see the cam will be pushed out in favour of Bee+ as easier to store at the end of my kitchen, in my hall cupboard etc With the old Bee I felt silly like I was pushing a dollies pram as it was so small and low but this just is fab fab fab!!
