How much does a new front door cost?

Our front door desprately needs replacing but I have no idea what sort of money we might be talking. Tried having a bit of a snoop online but no site will let you have a quote without you giving them your name and phone number and I really don't want to be harrassed by sales calls all next week.

Just want half decent looking door with a bit of glass. Probably UPVC, or maybe the coloured type which you never have to paint.

Anyone had one fitted recently and would be prepared to tell me how much they paid?

Thanks

this site looks good

B&Q have the coloured ones that don't need painting

Our wood one cost about 1.5K 4 years ago incl fitting

Thank you. Seen a couple of sites which will supply the door, just concerned about the fitting. Is it a job a reasonable DIYer could do or is it one for the proffessionals do you think??

When we looked at replacing our front door over 10 years ago, it was to be around £1500 then. Needless to say, we still have the old one.

We had our back door redone with a PVC job about 12 years ago, and I remember it being £700 then.

Similar experience here too. Door itself was a wood period reproduction and was about £800. Fitting was a long job and done by a carpenter and was a similar price. What horrified us was the cost of " door furniture" ie locks and letter boxes etc.

Ease of fitting depends on your house
A new house is probably much easier to do unlike our v wonky Victorian terrace

The site that eldo has linked to is where we bought our door!
I think we paid about £350 and my Dh fit it himself.

We recently had a quote from Sideys for an ordinary door with letterbox -£960.

We had one last year from Anglian, fitted and bought for £1,600. Sounds a lot but it is bee-yoo-tiful. Plain green.

Scary!

Christ that's a lot of money.

We'll be buying a £250 one from Wickes and DP fitting it himself.

I got one in salvage for £80 - nice one. But about to find out what Polish carpenter is going to cost to sand it down (it is fractionally too wide) and fit it - eeks - he is pricey!
