Cost of party wall dispute

We want to have a loft conversion. Our neighbour is refusing to sign a party wall agreement.

Has anyone had any experience of this? And any indication of how much it is likely to cost to get surveyors involved and mediating?

Thanks very much in advance.

We paid £750 for our surveyor and £900 for next door. Although it is called a dispute ours was amicable. The 2 surveyors come round, take photos, write a report then come back at the end to check all ok.

Make sure you don't get surveyor to write them letters at £150 a pop. You are in dispute so just get them to do the party wall survey.
Ours worked out well for us as we built foundations and roof actually onto the party wall so got about 20cm extra space and was their surveyors idea.
Your neighbour can appoint their own surveyor (you still have to pay) or you can appoint one for them if they agree.

Thanks both! Much appreciated. We'll be taking next steps to appoint surveyors this week.
